Orkhon University was founded in 1992 at the initiative of Doctor (Ph.D.) and Professor N. Khajidsuren, and received initial accreditation in 1999, advanced accreditation in 2005, and accreditation for the third time in 2018 by the National Council for Educational Accreditation, based on international standards.

Orkhon University is working to set the best standards in modern higher education through its School of Law, School of Business, and School of Humanities. The university is establishing research centers in specific areas, including the Center for Mongolian Language and Culture Studies and the Academy of Nomadic Civilizations.

Located in Ulaanbaatar, the capital of Mongolia, our school combines Asian and Western educational philosophies to develop students’ talents through innovative and practice-based learning. Orkhon University offers 24 bachelor's, 7 master's, and 4 doctoral programs across its 3 schools, and is working year after year to improve its goal of producing internationally competitive professionals with high levels of English proficiency. Orkhon University has produced over 8,000 graduates at bachelor's, master's, and doctoral levels in the past, contributing to the development of its own fields and the country.

Orkhon University is a member of the National Council for Accreditation of Educational Qualifications and is accredited by the council. OIU is also a member of the Association of Universities Asia Pacific and serves as an elected member of the association's board of directors.
